We had a fun New Year’s Eve! It was D’s first year trying to stay up until Midnight. (He didn’t make it! He fell asleep around 10:30. I think that’s pretty good for a first year.) We enjoyed chicken and waffle bites, tortilla pizzas, and herb crackers for dinner. We spent the evening watching TV, playing games, and D popped balloons every hour. At around 10:00pm, we could tell that D was getting very tired, so we watched The Care Bear’s New Year’s Countdown on Netflix and then Daddy read him a story and we put him to bed. John and I stayed up until midnight. (Shocker!) It’s the first year since having D that we actually stayed up to ring in the New Year. We had a sweet New Year’ s kiss and then turned our lamp off and fell asleep. 😉 It was a wonderful evening and there was nowhere that I would rather be! <3
Yesterday, I shared with you all my word and personal goals for the New Year. (You can check out that post here!) My husband isn’t big on New Year’s resolutions. I’m almost positive in the 10 years we have been together (7 married), that he has never set a New Year’s resolution or goal. This year has been different and I’m very excited for him! We have a few family goals that I want to share with you all today.
1) Read the Bible more as a family.
This has been kind of an unspoken goal for us. We are both determined to dig deeper into the Word this year and are re-committing to having a daily devotional time as a family. D and I have a devotion (most days) with his Toddler Bible before our homeschooling lessons each week day. Does anyone have any recommendations for Preschool Bibles? We have gone through his Toddler Bible at least 4 times. It’s time for something new!
2) We want to be Trim Healthy Parents!
John and I are at the end of our first week of Trim Healthy Mama (Daddy! 😉 ) together. If you are not familiar with Trim Healthy Mama, you can check out a break down here.(I’ll have more posts on our progress monthly, so be sure to stay tuned for that!) We have a Y membership for our workouts. (I’m hoping to get more clarity on what exercises I should be doing on Monday.)
We are not the only ones getting more active. We will be signing D up for his first year of soccer at the Y (hopefully!) on Friday! I’m super excited about being a Soccer mom! 😉
3) Declutter/Get Organized!
John and I are both in agreement that we have TOO much stuff! Ugh! It’s amazing how much two adults, one child, and one fur baby can accumulate over time. I’m thinking in the next couple of days, I’ll look for a good decluttering challenge and definitely tackle some of our piles of paper. :/ It must be done!
4) Work on at least 1 Home improvement project per month.
We have many projects in the works for our home, but it’s very easy to start one project and drop it to pick up another. You learn really quickly that you will never accomplish much if you continue to leave these projects unfinished! So we are planning to choose a focus each month and stick to a project from start to finish! Wish us luck! 😉
One of our BIG/MAJOR projects of the year will be remodeling our downstairs. (More details on this remodel, coming soon!)
So those are our Family Goals for 2016! I’ll keep you posted with our progress in our monthly update posts. What are your family goals for 2016? Share with us in the comments below!
